So I figured that since I am almost done taking everyone else’s holiday portraits I better get started on my own! My mom and I shopped for a few days before the shoot and found some really cute stuff…..about $400 later!! My mom and I shopped for a few days before the shoot and found some really cute stuff…..about $400 later!! Anyway, I love the way the girls look in their outfits, and whoever said redheads can’t wear red?? I think it looks beautiful. And I’m sure other mom’s can relate…taking photos of our own children can be quite the chore. I normally compare myself to Kate Gosselin, she is just downright nasty sometimes, aaaaand that may or not me be me when I try to shoot photos of my girls, just sayin’. But I was so pleasantly surprised this time. Frankie, my youngest, was such a freaking ham. I seriously didn’t tell her to do one thing. She would just sit there and give me these serious looks, or put her hand under her chin etc. And when it came time for the shot of all of them together (this is when I really get pissed if they don’t cooperate….) they just laughed their butts off when Frankie said a few words that I shall not repeat on this site (where does she learn these things?), and hugged and played. It was perfect. I am so in love with these photos of my girls. Looking at them feeling so happy makes me realize how truly blessed I am this holiday season. I have 3 happy, healthy daughters, a wonderful and extremely patient husband, and the best family in the entire world! I hope this holiday season finds you the same way, surrounded by love and family and all the best that this holiday season has to offer. Happy Holidays, from my family to yours!!!

I am so not a nature photographer, nor do I pretend to be. Like 8 or 9 years ago when I bought my first camera I would mess around and take shots of flowers and leaves and if I was lucky a cool bug, but I was just shooting with a stock lens and shooting on auto settings so my results were not really all that awesome. I have been really, really wanting to try out a macro lens for awhile now but just never had the time to actually make the call to rent one and then drive all the way down to SLC and, well, you get the idea. However, lately I have been wanting to try even more lighting techniques, photograph more than just people, and well, keep those creative juices flowing in general. So I made the trip, rented the lens, and holy craaaaaap. I am so glad I did. I was waiting for a bride to show up to her bridal shoot and I realized I was surrounded by all sorts of cool flowers, flowers that I am not sure I would have noticed otherwise. That is one thing I have really enjoyed about photography. It has forced me to see the beauty in all my surroundings. Wether it is an old barn, an empty field, or a dead flower for heaven’s sakes, I finally notice the unique characteristics of each. So here are some images that I took using the 105mm f/2.8 for Nikon. Again, not anything spectacular, but hey, for my first time ever really trying to shoot some cool nature photographs, not too shabby. I didn’t want to overly edit these photos to keep them as natural as possible so in Bride I just upped my blacks/contrast a tad, my exposures were spot on, and in Photoshop I did a soft light layer at 10%, sharpened and voila’! Pretty fun!

Well hello. Seems like it has been forever since I have posted to my blog. I’m still here, promise!! I have so many great images to share but so many different things on my plate at the moment. We have finally moved in to our new home and I cannot tell you how happy we [...]]]> Well hello. Seems like it has been forever since I have posted to my blog. I’m still here, promise!! I have so many great images to share but so many different things on my plate at the moment. We have finally moved in to our new home and I cannot tell you how happy we are about it. The neighborhood is amazing with little kids everywhere (something that we did NOT have in our old hood), parks within a minute away – one in our backyard actually, quiet streets and friendly neighbors, etc. I have been completely consumed by the whole home buying process for the last few months. From all the forms that you have to file, to the phone calls that needed to be made, to packing, my sweet kids, the end of school and the start of our summer, work…….ya, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed, but it has all been worth it, so worth it. We are in our home, the kids are soooo happy, I am catching up on my work, and we have a full summer ahead of us. Life is so good right now. I have had the most amazing sessions lately, and have been able to share my knowledge with others during my mentoring sessions. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Now all I need to do it get these images posted! And speaking of getting things posted…..I couldn’t help but add this one of a good friend’s absolutely drop. dead. gorgeous. little girl. And their amazing family/engagement shoot should be up on the blog soon. Thanks for looking!! Hugs……

Here in about a week and a half, my little family, along with some great friends will be heading up to Montana for a sweet (and much needed) weekend vacation. I seriously cannot tell you how excited I am about this trip. No computer, no internet (what will I do!!). Nothing but quality time spent with my favorite people. I am hoping to make a little trip into Bannack Ghost Town. It has some of the coolest, most rugged structures that I have ever seen. Definitely a photographers dream for any type of session. Last year I went up for a visit and had a lot of fun with these pictures. I really boosted the color and contrast and tried to give them edits that were fit for a ghost town. I think I will dress up the kiddos and see what I can bribe them with to do a little sesh there in Bannack. My mind is already spinning with ideas for their clothes. Going to be fun!! Here are a few more photos of Bannack.

And this is the “cabin” where we will spend our weekend. More like a mansion really. Very good friends of my family own this cabin. They have traveled the world for many years and their house is full of trinkets, photos, and gorgeous furniture from all their excursions. Not to mention the fact that they have 8 (soon to be 9) grandchildren so they also have TONS of kid friendly movies, games, rooms etc. I am hoping there might be some snow up there since they have made a perfect sled hill behind their house. So freaking excited!! I am really wishing that Linda would be there but she is in Germany visiting her daughter. She also has a passion for photography so whenever we get together it is fun to chat about what we love. Oooh I am so excited!!

And these are just some older, random Montana photos that I love. The top left photo is of the Sawtooth Mountains that are right outside their front door. Their is a really awesome hike that goes up to hidden lake but I am not sure if we will be making that this trip. I really love that photo of Sophia Rose too. She had just stepped outside to let everyone know that dinner was ready and I caught her attention. Others are just plain awesome scenery.

On another note. Since I will be taking my camera if you know of anyone in the area that might be interested in a session send them my way. I would love to do more in Bannack or right there in Dillon since it does have some fabulous spots at the edge of town.
